The leadership of the American labor movement is paying the price now for its dependence on the worthless Democratic Party and the bloated propaganda spewing bureaucracy, instead of on its erstwhile supporters for its power and priorities.

We all need to lead the way in providing a people and planet centered alternative that addresses working people's real concerns. To that end I proposed that the Green Party of Mississippi immediately put out a press release opposing Musk's wrecking ball DOGE operation that is destroying people-centered programs and in support of the positive things that the federal work force does every day for the people.

Far too many people don’t know crucially important facts about federal employees and the services that they provide:

* Due to Trump’s budget chaos, health clinics across the US have already been forced to close.

* Musk’s reckless operation threatens enormous numbers of Americans. Without federal workers at sufficiently funded agencies, no one in the US will be able to receive benefits such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, or workplace safety protections, among many other essential services. Local schools and hospitals all across the country also depend on federal funding.

* Contrary to right-wing claims about a massively expanded federal bureaucracy, the percentage of the American workforce working for the federal government has declined significantly over the past 25 years. As you already know all too well.

* Billionaires, not federal employees, are hoarding America’s wealth: total yearly pay for all 2.3 million civilian federal employees ($271 billion) is significantly less than Elon Musk’s personal net worth of $412 billion.

* Most federal workers are not rich bureaucrats: 43% of federal workers make less than $90,000 yearly, and 58.8% make less than $110,000 yearly.

* About 60% of the budget for paying federal employees goes to the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Department of Homeland Security. Other valuable federal agencies, like the Forest Service, get next to nothing.

* This impacts the whole country: Over 80% of federal employees work in regions other than Washington D.C.

There is no harm whatsoever in acknowledging that there is plenty of room for huge reductions in the federal budget and federal agencies which DO NOT serve public interests...as the Green Party has long advocated...and the budget of departments, especially those involved in propaganda work, like UUSAID which are disproportionate to their payroll, since they are largely pass through agencies distributing funds.

Rather than raising fears about programs that Donald Trump has committed to protect, we need to affirmatively push for big cuts to the military, to foreign aid (read bribing of foreign officials who support US business, often against US workers), and other programs which DO NOT have support of the majority of the American people.

Please share the February 19th Day of Action event widely over Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Blue Sky, and among your coworkers, to friends, etc. And be sure to wear red, white or blue that day to show your support for our essential federal workforce of true patriots.

Totally agree. That is why me and my fellow Republicans in our local county are pushing for a larger turnout. This local elections are super important.
