Rep. Dana Criswell - Gun Owner's Under Attack
Gun owners across the United States have become accustomed to having our rights and freedoms attacked. We are called dangerous, uncaring, and uncompromising, but we know our rights and we know that the stability of our nation is based on our ability to protect ourselves, our families, and our country.
In Mississippi every politician will go out of their way to proclaim their belief in the second amendment, but don't be fooled for one minute. There are forces within our state attempting to take away your rights. The very politician who claims to be your champion will sell your right for power, position, or money before you know what has happened.
Your gun-rights are being threatened today in the Mississippi Legislature.
Working to protect your Rights
Rep. Andy Gipson has worked for several months on House Bill 1083 to remedy a problem created by our universities and other state agencies who deny citizens their right to carry a firearm on state property. The current law, enacted in 2011 is very clear, a Mississippi citizens who possess an enhanced firearm permit has the right to carry on a state university campus. It is also extremely clear in current law that that citizens also has the right to carry their personal protection firearm in any publicly owned sports arena or stadium. But our Institutions of Higher Learning along with our university presidents believe they are above the law. They have denied us our right to carry our firearm for personal protection. I've actually had one university president tell me that he didn't care what the law said because a university could do whatever they wanted.
HB 1083 would make clear the intent of the people of Mississippi and ensure that our universities could no longer violate our rights.
The Problem
Our university presidents are mad, they are angry because the citizens of this state are exercising their rights and are forcing them to adhere to the law. The contempt that these elitist show for the average Mississippian and our laws is sickening. This week they are exerting pressure on leadership in the Mississippi legislature to kill HB1083 or amend it to take away your rights. Our universities have applied pressure this week to either kill HB1083 or amend it to take away an enhanced firearm permit holder's right to carry a firearm into a public stadium or arena.
Yesterday the Mississippi House of Representatives resisted their pressure and passed HB1083 without any restrictive amendments.
GUN CONTROL NUTS DO NOT GIVE UP
Outside forces are still at work to take away your rights. Yesterday the University of Mississippi's Chancellor and Mississippi State's President made public a letter from the SEC Commissioner. This letter threatens the people of Mississippi and attempts to intimidate us into selling your rights for a sporting event. Apparently the SEC believes they control your rights and freedoms.
We must send a message - OUR RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS ARE NOT FOR SALE!
HB1083 now moves to the senate - Only you can stand in the gap between freedom and gun control.
It is time we make it clear - ANY elected official who votes to take away a gun-right will never be elected again! This is the beginning of a slow repeal of our gun laws, do not accept any excuse, do not allow them to sell your rights.
Take Action NOW!
Thank Rep. Andy Gipson for standing up for your rights
If your representative voted "Yea" on HB1083 thank them for standing up for your rights
Let your senators know that you expect them to stand up for your rights
You want House Bill 1083 passed without any restrictive amendments!
