Recommendations for Tomorrow's Election

August 8 - Important day for conservatives

Several have asked me to make recommendations for the upcoming election. The establishment folks have spent millions in the past few months in an attempt to end the conservative movement. This election is Mississippi’s fight for conservative government. If the liberal Hosemann side of the Republican party wins tomorrow I believe Mississippi will return to a Democrat controlled government within a few years.

This is my list of the best candidates, I know each of these individuals and I am convinced they are the best choice for our state.

• Northern District Public Service Commissioner - Chris Brown

• Southern District Public Service Commissioner - Dane Maxwell

• Senate District 6 (Lee County) - Lauren Smith

• Senate District 9 (Lafayette/Panola County) - Ricky Caldwell

• Senate District 15 (Choctaw, Webster, and Montgomery Counties) - Alan Sibley

• Senate District 19 (Desoto County) - Walter Hopper

• Senate District 42 (Forrest, Jones Counties) - Don Hartness

• House of Representatives District 7 (Desoto County) - Jamey Goodkind

• House of Representatives District 28 (Desoto County) - John T. Williams

• House of Representatives District 115 (Harrison County) - Phil Harding

• Desoto County Supervisor - Robert Foster

• Desoto County District Attorney - Matthew Barton

Several have asked me about other races, generally my rule is if I don’t know anything about either candidate I vote against the incumbent.

Desoto County Sheriff is a difficult choice - I believe Lee has a stronger commitment to preserving the citizens constitutional rights than Tuggle. Tuggle’s ad where he says he, “doesn’t believe in doorbells” is a huge problem. The citizens of Desoto County need a sheriff who cares about their rights. Southaven police didn’t use the doorbell a few years ago and killed an innocent man in his living room. I can not support or vote for a sheriff who doesn’t see that as a major problem.

I’ve also been asked about the two men running to replace me in the House for District 6. Keen was chosen by the local politicians to replace me because they want someone who will rubber-stamp anything they ask for, the code words for this are, “work better with local officials”. The local mayors have been upset with me because I opposed and stopped for many years their tax increases. I do not know Wallace though my vote would be for Wallace over Keen.
