On the other hand, the bill does not shrink the overall footprint of public higher education or return resources to taxpayers; it mainly restructures governance. The number of trustees in some consolidated districts is actually quite large, and the statute gives the Mississippi Community College Board fairly strong authority to impose consolidations and property transfers if local districts do not comply. I absolutely do NOT support this bill unless you can give substantial evidence that you will be saving the taxpayer millions of dollars and NOT giving any raises to anyone. Im all for consolidating and streamlining, but too often we the people never get REAL benefits or relief. This will also only be fair if this effects all community / junior colleges in the state.
