The election, or, if you’re a Republican, the total and complete beating, is now two days behind us. In Mississippi, the GOP is still counting absentee ballots and hoping for a “win” in the Senate race between Cindy Hyde-Smith and Scott Colom. A final result could be days away. But even if the GOP pulls it out by a handful of votes we need to ask: what does this beatdown tell us?
There’s a lot to learn. CNN and its socialist friends will tell you it means Americans have embraced their agenda and are ready to follow Venezuela, China, Cuba, and a long list of other failed countries down their preferred socialist path. Some will tell you it’s your fault because you didn’t vote, you anti-American fool. At least, that’s what they think of you. Others will say it’s because we didn’t support Israel vigorously enough. Never mind that we’ve sent billions upon billions of dollars already. And if you object, they’ll call you an anti-Semite. How dare you not want to put your kids in debt for Netanyahu and his band of warmongers? For the record, I don’t believe for one second that God expects you or me to risk our nation’s future to support a secular government run by fallible men. Even if you believe God’s promise to the nation of Israel has not yet been fulfilled, nothing in God’s word says I must let a man lead my nation into economic destruction.
So what happened? Start with the Republican Party itself. Can you tell me what exactly the GOP stands for today? In Mississippi, most of our local officials put an R behind their names. But have you ever asked one of them to explain the Republican Party platform? Most of them couldn’t tell you there is a platform, and the ones who know about it don’t care. That makes our local “Republican” officials completely useless at governing by the standards of the party, standards that most of the citizens in their towns actually believe in.
Next, consider your state representative and senator. They also call themselves Republicans, but do they actually care about conservative policy? Mine certainly don’t. They treat their office as an excuse to spend a few months a year away from their families having fun in the big city of Jackson. When they’re “in session,” you and conservative policy are the last things on their minds.
Mississippi has a reputation as a conservative state. Is it, really? Supposedly we have great gun laws. Here’s a test. Last year, President Trump and Congress zeroed out the $200 federal tax on firearm suppressors, and this fall the ATF announced it would stop enforcing the federal registration requirement. Great news for gun owners, right? Not so fast. Mississippi law says you can only own a suppressor if you’re “authorized under federal law.” In other words, your gun rights in “conservative” Mississippi depend on whoever happens to be running the ATF in Washington. Our own Attorney General has warned that a future administration could reverse the change and has asked the Legislature to cut the federal reference out of our law. Bills to fix it have been filed before, and our “conservative” Legislature never got it done. That isn’t conservative leadership. It’s a bunch of politicians who like the conservative label but always take the easy way out. Following is not leading.
And if you want to bring up the abortion law that went to the Supreme Court and overturned Roe v. Wade, let me tell you what I saw with my own eyes. I watched Republicans in the House Republican Caucus beg the Speaker to kill that bill because they didn’t want to deal with the fallout of voting on another pro-life measure. Our Legislature is full of, and run by, some of the weakest, most mind-numbingly spineless people you’ll ever meet. They care only about getting back to Jackson every year so they can pretend to be important.
Then there’s our “representation” in Washington. Unless you’re deeply involved in the Republican Party, I don’t know a single citizen who thinks Roger Wicker or Cindy Hyde-Smith are great examples of conservatives fighting for the people of Mississippi. Local and state politicians love them because they bring home cash, which is really just your money cycled through the federal government, so those politicians can grow government while still pretending to be conservative. Beyond that, nobody believes our senators or our field of wet-noodle congressmen fight for anything other than themselves and big government.
Then there’s President Trump. Most of us enthusiastically voted for him and had high hopes that he would be the leader this nation needs. And honestly, the first year of his hard-fought second term was fantastic. He hit D.C. like a man with a plan. He promised to fix the border, fix the economy, end the war between Russia and Ukraine, and stop the cycle of war after war after war.
Ukraine proved harder than he expected, and most of us didn’t blame him for that. We still trusted that, with his help, the war would end sooner rather than later, and that at the very least we would stop spending ourselves into bankruptcy supporting it. He fixed the border in short order. That’s one issue, maybe the only one, we can all call a huge success. He brought Elon Musk to D.C. to start wringing out waste and fraud. But Trump found out what the rest of us already knew: nobody else in Washington, especially the Republicans in the House and Senate, cared one bit about eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse. In fact, most of us are convinced they support all of it. Not a single one of our “conservative” representatives in D.C. lifted a finger to help Trump or Musk save this country from the economic disaster ahead.
And let’s not forget Trump made two more promises: no war with Iran, and the release of the Epstein files, so that the pedophile and human-trafficking ring of government officials and big-business leaders would finally be exposed and prosecuted. What do we have instead? An endless war with Iran, and a Justice Department, Congress, and executive branch that have decided to protect the pedophiles at the expense of their victims and the American people. Thomas Massie led the fight to release the Epstein files while nearly every Republican in Congress stood on the sidelines. For his trouble, Trump and the GOP turned on him.
So, you want to know why Republicans lost Tuesday? It’s simple. No one believes they make any difference at all. They don’t believe in anything. They aren’t conservative. They have zero interest in anything but serving themselves, growing government, and continuing the waste, fraud, and abuse.
Where do we go from here? As a nation, the honest answer is down. We are headed toward Cuba and Venezuela. If you’re waiting on the GOP to slow that down, you’ll still be waiting when you’re standing in the bread line.
The only answer is for you to change the direction. Start with your mayor, your county supervisor, your state representative and senator, your governor and lieutenant governor, because D.C. is all but lost. Outside of Rand Paul, Thomas Massie, and a handful of fighters in the House Freedom Caucus, all that’s left there are useless Republicans and socialist Democrats, and a few good men can’t hold back the tide by themselves. So hunker down, fix your community and your state, and ride out the storm. A storm is coming. Trump and the GOP opened the floodgates, and a wave of socialist Democrats is about to pour through.
Hold on. This ain’t going to be fun.

All you that support the two party system are traitors and sell outs. The people are just about done with both of you!
