After I published “Bitcoin: Sound Money for a Free Society”, many of you sent thoughtful questions and pushback. This brief follow-up is meant to address some of those comments. My aim is to clarify how Bitcoin actually works and why those mechanics matter for everyday savers, small businesses, and citizens who care about economic freedom. I’ve included some links to sources where these answers were found.
“If the grid goes down, Bitcoin is worthless. Paper cash still works.”
Short outages favor local cash—agreed. But most dollars today aren’t paper; they’re database entries at banks and card networks that also depend on power and the internet. Bitcoin can add redundancy: you can receive the blockchain by satellite (no internet) and there are experimental ways to send transactions using radio, mesh networks, or even basic phones via USSD/SMS (used in parts of Africa). None of these are silver bullets, but they show Bitcoin isn’t a one-wire system. Cash for local resilience, Bitcoin for censorship-resistant settlement—they complement each other. “Florida (and others) banned this ‘ghost dollar.’”
Not so. Florida passed laws against a central bank digital currency (CBDC)—government money with programmable controls—not against Bitcoin. Separately, several states and cities are tightening rules or even banning some crypto ATMs to combat fraud, which is about kiosk regulation, not outlawing Bitcoin itself. “Government can track and freeze every penny.”
Government can regulate companies (exchanges, banks) and subpoena records. On-chain, Bitcoin is pseudonymous: transactions are public, identities are not—until you attach your name at an on-ramp. Blockchain forensics can and does trace crime; that’s a feature of a transparent ledger, not a flaw. If you self-custody, no one can arbitrarily print more of your money or seize it without your keys and due process—though you also take on the responsibility to secure it. “Bitcoin isn’t real money, and anyone can create it.”
“Real money” is whatever people accept that reliably settles transactions. Bitcoin does that globally, 24/7. And no, you can’t “just create more.” The protocol’s supply is hard-capped at 21 million, enforced by thousands of independent nodes that reject any invalid block. You can try to copy the code, but you can’t clone the network’s users, miners, or liquidity—social consensus is the moat. (That’s also why governments can’t change Bitcoin’s issuance schedule.) “What about fraud and seniors being scammed?”
This is a real problem—especially with crypto kiosks. States are responding with limits, warnings, and licensing. Consumer education matters too: never pay a “government fee” or “urgent bill” via a kiosk; verify first; and favor reputable on-ramps. Regulation aimed at scams can coexist with open, neutral money. Bottom line
Fiat is money the state can expand and censor; Bitcoin is money with rules that don’t change by decree. That doesn’t make it magic or risk-free. It means we finally have a monetary system whose core properties—scarcity, openness, and settlement—don’t depend on trusting politicians or corporate gatekeepers. Use cash when it’s practical, banks when it’s convenient, and Bitcoin when sovereignty and portability matter most.

This will answer the main question to jump right past it all. Any 1 can answer.. DC politicians have made millions illegally,Soled out America & invested in alot of physical gold. They are safe & set for the rest of their lives. Now,We poor people have to do what we can to get by.What the government,State,County, city etc dont steal of our check we/people are left to pay bills, food just to scrape by. I know a lot of people that have to grow & sell crops/gardens,Make things at home to sell or they would be homeless. Now with this bit coin,Will the government know they are selling to make ends meet & they will have their hands out wanting their part that they don’t have. Just because a corrupt congress & senate agrees to steal peoples income doesn’t mean it’s legal or constitutional. I SUPPORT THESE PEOPLE MAKING SIDE $. ALL TGEY CAN MAKE to live life will the government take what they think is their with this NON PHYSICAL $ just because they say u made it so u owe them??
